Funeral Celebrant East Kilbride
If you’ve lost someone you love and you’re arranging a funeral in East Kilbride, you might be feeling a bit unsure about what comes next. There’s no right or wrong way to say goodbye, but I can help you plan a service that feels right for your family.
My name’s Donna Lynch, and I’m a funeral celebrant based in East Kilbride. I work with families across Scotland, helping them create funerals that are personal, respectful and help you remember your loved one and say goodbye in a way that best reflects who they were.
My role is to listen to what matters most to you, then guide you through planning a ceremony that truly reflects the person who has died.
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all service that could be about anyone, I will help you create a goodbye to your loved one, that reminds everyone who they really were and how they really lived.
Funerals in East Kilbride
East Kilbride has several options when it comes to funerals. One of the most used venues in the area is South Lanarkshire Crematorium, located on Sydes Brae. It’s a peaceful setting surrounded by countryside, with a modern chapel and kind, professional staff.
I’ve led ceremonies there and can work closely with the team to make sure the service runs smoothly.
But I can also talk you through the options available to you.
If you’ve already chosen a cemetery or crematorium elsewhere, that’s no problem. I regularly travel across Scotland, and I’ll fit in with your plans. Some families also hold a small memorial gathering after the formal service.
If that’s something you’d like to include, I can help guide the tone and wording so that it all feels connected.
You don’t need to have everything figured out, no one will expect you to and I’m here to help you make sense of the options and talk things through gently, one step at a time.
How I Work
When you get in touch, we’ll arrange a time to talk — either in person or over the phone. This is a chance for you to tell me about your loved one. You can share whatever feels right. Some people tell me their life story. Others focus on the small details: the way they made a perfect cup of tea, how they always sang in the car, or how they loved helping their neighbours.
You can talk about their childhood, their work, the people they loved, the things they cared about. I’ll ask some gentle questions if you’re not sure where to start. It’s not an interview — it’s just a conversation, and I’ll do the listening.
Once I have a sense of the kind of person they were, I’ll write the ceremony. You can read it beforehand if you’d like, or I can keep it a surprise for the day. Some families like to include their own words or music choices, while others prefer to keep things simple.
On the day of the funeral, I’ll be there early to make sure everything is ready. I’ll lead the service with warmth and clarity, keeping things steady and respectful. If you or anyone else would like to speak, I’ll help with that too — either by supporting you to write something or by reading it out on your behalf.
